Confirming a bed bug infestation is the first step toward controlling them and treating for them. If bed bugs are suspected, specimens should be collected if possible and turned in to your pest control professional upon their visit to your home. If you cannot collect a specimen, rest assured the pest control professional will be able to determine if you had bed bugs usually with a visual inspection. If bed bugs or bed bug activity is not evident, a K-9 inspection may be called for.
When bed bugs are suspected or confirmed, notify property management staff or your pest control company immediately, if privately owned.
Bed bugs have been declared a public nuisance by the city administration in the city of Chicago. The only way to get a handle on this epidemic is to have your property properly treated by a certified pest control expert capable of treating for bed bugs.
If your current pest control company is simply coming in and "spraying" for bed bugs, rest assured, they will not go away. Instead, they will scatter and continue to multiply.
At Allied Services, we have a couple different ways we can treat for bed bugs. Both are quite effective and efficient. If you suspect bed bugs in your home in Northwestern Indiana or the Chicagoland area, call us today to schedule an inspection.

What To Watch Out For In Spotting Bed Bugs
Spotting such as this is a major sign to watch out for when trying to figure out if there are bed bugs present in your home or bedroom. This is fecal matter left behind by bed bugs. Others signs to look for are blood stains, casings from them shedding their skin and growing, droppings, eggs, and of course, actual bed bugs.

Bed Bugs Before and After One Blood Meal Feeding
As you look at this photo of bed bugs, the "start" shows a bed bug as it is about to start feeding on a human. Then it shows the stages of feeding every 3 minutes. Notice at the end of 12 minutes how the bed bug body is expanded. It is now full of one blood meal from a human and is capable of living for up to 6 months on that one meal. Within 6 months, it may reproduce several times. One female lays up to 5 eggs per day. Do the math! That is up to 900 eggs in just 6 months being hatched. And the cycle continues. More bugs are created, thus worsening any infestation you might have currently and creating more bugs that must feed on human blood. Call us to get rid of that infestation today.
