Identification of Bed Bugs!

If you think you have bed bugs, or are exhibiting any of the symptoms (Grouped bites, itching red marks, mold spots on mattress, etc.) you can use the following tips to identify an infestation. If the problem exists, a pest control company needs to be contacted immediately to keep the infestation from getting worse. Home self treatments should never be implemented as bed bugs are a pest that must be left to professionals to deal with!

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Bed bug bites are the easiest way to find out if there is an infestation.
  • Bites will be grouped and very red.
  • Bites will itch, but be sure to keep from itching them, or they will spread and worsen.
  • Mattress Cracks
  • Holes
  • Folds in linens
  • Drapes / Curtains
  • Carpets
  • Blood Strains on Sheets
  • Cracks and Crevices
  • Check for dead bugs in all of the previous places. Finding dead bed bugs is the first sign that they are actually present.
  • Bed bugs have been around throughout recorded history.
  • Female bed bugs can lay up to 5 eggs a day and 500 eggs during a life time.
  • Untreated one bed bug can turn into 32,000 bugs in just 6 months.
  • Bed Bugs can hide in cracks, crevices, and behind baseboards and molding. This can make them difficult to detect.
  • Treatments should include encasement's for mattresses and box springs, heat, interceptors / climb ups on furniture legs, and non-toxic insecticides.
